What is Hypixel Housing?

Housing is a free, long-running game mode on Hypixel, the Minecraft: Java Edition server at mc.hypixel.net. Every player gets a plot of their own, called a house, to build on, decorate, and open up to visitors. Some houses stay quiet hangouts for friends. Others become full mini-games, parkour maps, and event hubs with regulars who drop by every day.

HypixelHousing.com is an independent fan site for those players. It collects plain-English guides, color codes, fonts, and Free Build help, so you can find what you need without digging through old forum threads.

Free Build (often written Freebuild) is one of Housing’s most popular genres: public houses where the owner hands build permissions to visitors, so anyone who walks in can place blocks. It’s chaotic, social, and a lot of fun to host, and it comes with its own questions.

Common Hypixel Housing questions

The questions new players and hosts ask most, answered in a line or two.

  • How do I join Hypixel Housing?

    Connect to mc.hypixel.net on Java Edition, then type /l housing to jump straight to the Housing lobby. You can also pick Housing from the game menu.

  • Is Hypixel Housing free?

    Yes. Every player gets a house at no cost. Housing+ is an optional upgrade, and a creator code takes 5% off it.

  • Which commands should I learn first?

    /visit <player> shows a player’s houses, /home opens your own, and /h random drops you into an active one.

  • How do cookies work?

    Right-click the cookie in your hotbar to give a house a pack. Packs are limited each week, and the house browser ranks houses by cookies.

  • How do I handle troublemakers in my house?

    /h kick, /h mute, and /h ban remove or silence a player. Mutes and bans can be undone with /h unmute and /h unban.

  • Can I make my own mini-games?

    Yes. The actions system runs your house’s logic, and variables store values for each player, each team, or the whole house.

  • How does parkour work in Housing?

    Houses can run timed parkour courses with leaderboards. Use /parkour checkpoint to go back to your last checkpoint and /parkour reset to start over.

  • How do I get more visitors?

    Make the first minute obvious, keep things smooth when it gets busy, and host on a schedule people can count on.

  • What are the rules for hosts?

    Hosts are responsible for what happens in their house, so read Hypixel’s rules before you open to the public.

  • Is HypixelHousing.com official?

    No. It’s an independent fan site run by CTG123456, and it isn’t connected to Hypixel Inc. or Mojang.
